What
is Rotary?
Rotary is an organization of
businessmen and professionals from all over the
world, who provide
humanitarian aid,
encourage the high moral norms in all
professions and help for setting up of the
goodwill and peace in the world.
About 1.2
million people,
united in 30
thousand clubs,
in 168
countries and 35
geographic areas,
are members in Rotary.
The membership is by an invitation and it is
based on representatives of all professions.
The system for classification
provides wide variety of communally performance.
Each Rotary
club meets once per week,
so that its members to
advance in reaching the purposes of the club and
to be glad to their partnership. The main
purpose of Rotary is
the service – to the
society, on the work
place, in the whole
world. Rotary
organizes projects that concern the most crisis
sectors – the children
in danger, poverty and
hunger, environment,
illiteracy and violence.
Also it supports programs for
the youth, educational opportunities and
international programs for exchange of students,
teachers and other
specialists for their professional development.
The motto of Rotary
is: "In
service of the society".
Although the Rotary
clubs develop their own
programs, all Rotarian
in the world are united in the campaign for the
global eliminating of the poliomyelitis.
In 1980 Rotary
collected $240
million USD for immunization
of the children worldwide. Up to the year
2005 – 100 years anniversary
of Rotary – a program
was provided for the total eradication and
extirpation of the poliomyelitis.
This program required
collecting of $ 500
million. In addition,
Rotary had provided
volunteers for the propaganda and helping in the
campaign for immunization of the kids from the
different counties in the world.
Rotary foundation of
Rotary International is a
non-profit corporation,
which purpose is the world
understanding,
achieved by programs for international
humanitarian service,
educational and cultural exchange.

voluntarily basis by the Rotarians
and other people, who
share the vision for a better world.
Since 1947

and education needs,
which were initiated and realized by local
Rotary clubs and

20 reasons to join
Rotary:
1.
Friendship:
In this more and more
complicated world Rotary
satisfies one of the most
essential needs of the people –
the need of friendship and
amity. This is one of
the both reasons, due
to which in 1905 Rotary
was established.
2.
Business
development:
The second prime cause for the Rotary
appearance is the development
of the business.
Everyone needs partners. Rotary
consists of representatives
of all business types and professions in the
society. The
Rotarians help each other.
3.
Personal
growth and development:
The membership in
Rotary continues our growth
and education in the field of human relations
and also our personal development.
4.
Development of
leader qualities: Rotary
is an organization of leaders
and successful people. Our service in
Rotary is like a college
education. Leadership:
to learn how to motivate,
influence and direct the
leaders.
5.
Citizen of its
own community:
Our membership in the
Rotary club makes us better
citizens of the community.
The average Rotary club
consists of the most active citizens of each
society.
6.
Continuation
of the education:
There is a worked out program
each week in Rotary,
from which we inform ourselves for the processes
in the society, the
country and the world. Each meeting gives us a
possibility to hear different lectures on
different actual topics.
7.
Pleasure:
Rotary is a pleasure.
Each meeting,
each club project,
community activity,
service are pleasure.
8.
Skill to talk
in front of audience:
Many of the people,
who have joined Rotary
were afraid to talk in front
of audience. Rotary
develops confidence and a skill for
communication with the audience and opportunity
for practicing and improving of these skills.
9.
Citizens of
the world:
Each Rotarian has a
badge with the text “Rotary
International”. There are few
places in the world without Rotary
clubs.
Each Rotarian
is welcomed – even
this is encouraged –
in each of the 30 000
clubs in 194 countries
and geographic regions.
This means friendships both
in its society and everywhere in the world.
10.
Help during
travelling:
As there are Rotary
clubs everywhere, many
Rotarians,
who need a doctor,
lawyer,
hotel or advice during their
travel, find assistance through Rotary.
11.
Entertainments:
Each club and district has
activities that diversify the work daily routine
of its members. Rotary
held conferences,
congresses, assemblies
and institutions,
which offer entertainments in addition to the
information, education
and service.
12.
Development of
social skills:
Each week and during
different events and activities Rotary
develops the individuality of
the members, social
and personal skills. Rotary
is for people,
who like the people.
13.
Family
programs: Rotary
provides one of the most
large scaled programs for youth exchange in the
world; clubs for
future Rotarians in
the high schools and colleges,
opportunity for engaging of
the marital partner and family in activities,
assigned to support the
members of the family in applying and
development of the family values.
14.
Professional
skills: Each
Rotarian is expected
to participate in the growth and development of
his/her profession,
to serve the society,
to teach the young people.
Rotary helps you to become a
better doctor, lawyer,
teacher.
15.
Ethic
development: Rotary
practices the Four-way test,
which manages the ethical
standards of the person.
The Rotarians
are expected to be ethical in the professional
and business relations.
16.
Acquainting
with the cultures of the different countries:
In Rotary
people are united from all
religions, countries,
cultures,
languages,
races,
political convictions,
colour and ethnical belonging.
The most eminent persons in
the world are its members.
The Rotarians
realize their cultures and learn to love and
work with the people everywhere.
With this they become better
citizens of their countries.
17.
Prestige:
The members of Rotary
are eminent persons,
leaders in the business,
professions,
art,
management,
sport,
army,
religion and all branches.
Rotary clubs are the oldest
and most prestigious non-profit clubs.
Among the Rotary
members there are directors,
managers,
professionals -
people, who make
decisions and influence the politics.
18.
Good people:
The Rotarians
besides everything are good people –
the best on the Earth.
They are important people,
who keep to the policy
“It is good to be important
persons, but it is
important to be good”.
19.
Lack of
“official creed”:
In Rotary
there is no secret
handshaking, there is
no secret policy or official creed,
and there are no secret
meetings or rituals.
This is an open community of men and women,
who simply believe in the
necessity to help the others.
Possibility to serve:
Rotary is a club with ideal
purpose. Its care is
the mankind. The
Rotarians serve the
society on a local and world level.
This is maybe the most
important reason to become Rotarian:
the chance to do something
for somebody else and to feel the satisfaction
from this.
